Birthday Card

Birthday cards today reflect upon your social status and age.  Today for younger people the cards tend to be more racy with someone of the opposite sex on their half naked saying some crude humored joke.  While once you hit the cards for the people in there 40’s they turn into more jokes about their age and body image.  By making jokes and seeing funny pictures it helps make aging less stressful and less frightening to think of.

What I've Learned

In the past few weeks we have ran through some chapters and surprisingly I have learned a lot from them and that they are very interesting.

In the first chapter we went over I learned about the history of psychology.  It was a very interesting chapter learning about the two earliest forms of psychology schools.  I learned that the person who first established psychology as a science was Wilhelm Wundt, back in 1879.  Wilhelm later on took his studies into a structuralism approach.  By learning about Mr. Wilhelm Wundt and the two earliest forms of psychology school it taught me what psychology has been based off of and branched upon.

In the second chapter that we went over I had learned about the various methods psychologist’s used when study thing; such as case studies, surveys and many others.  Once I read over what each of the different ways psychologist use to study I began to reflect upon my sciences classes and realize that the majority of the studies I have already done just didn’t know it in the process.  Out of all of the methods used to research and study the survey way is one most commonly used amongst everybody in society, whether its from a 2nd grader using it find the average time a classmate plays outside to a senior who needs to do a survey about the student body.

In the third chapter that we had read I had learned the effects of Nature, Nurture, and Human Destiny.  This chapter was by far the most intriguing ones to me, learning about twins and how even though they can be miles apart they are still very much alike.  In class we did a survey on what the age was you preferred to date, for women the majority of us said older and men the majority said younger.

The most intriguing thing I found in the past three chapters was about the twin studies.  Even if the twins have never met in their life, were separated at birth or shortly after and they can still show a lot of the same choices as the other twin had made through out their years of living is remarkable.  Even though the twins ended in homes that were complete opposites of each other’s, they still showed similarities in their choices.

Question 1:  Being born in two separate worlds basically how can the twins still have strong similarities?

Question 2:  How can a child have the same personality of a deceased parent even though they had barely known them?

Question 3:  Even though fraternal twins were separated at birth and one was female and the other male, would they still make similar choices in what they did for a career?

Poem

Similarities and differences have understanding why is the challenge.
Making sense of how and why we think and act as we do.
In our minds lay the answers.
Levels a analysis are formed by many factors.
“Everything is related to everything else.”

Psychological Introduction

Hello, my name is Lacy Johnson; I am a 17 year-old senior at Greenwood High School.
When I think about things I look at them from a logical point of view and I take other people’s perspectives into view also and analyze what their perspectives are.  Then I look at my perspective and see how they are similar or different to others.  My thoughts tend to be in a wide range at first but then narrow down to what the topic is after I go through my thoughts and analyze others.
I process information best by relating it to things that I already know on the subject.  I learn best when I hear the information or by doing hands on activities on the information.  I don’t learn the greatest from reading text books, the information just flies by me.  That is why I learn better from hands on activities or by hearing a lecture.  I am very creative when it comes to certain projects and I always try to be creative with all of my assignments.   I struggle a bit with writing research papers, but I can do power points in no time.
I am a very extrovert or gregarious person, I love being around people.  I do not have that much trouble speaking in front of people, unless I have just met the person.  When I am around my class or anyone in my school or community it is easy for me to talk in front of anyone because I have known them for most of my life and being on the Miss Greenwood Court, 2nd attendant, I talk to most of the community and talk in front of large crowds without being nervous.   I am a pretty loud, talkative, and outgoing person all of the time, I love meeting new people from around the state and country.  I go on various F.F.A. trips and conventions to learn more about myself and to make myself a better leader, and to meet new people.  I am happiest when I am around my friends doing anything from going through parades to playing basketball.   I really don’t have a temper, unless a person does something that is offending people that are around me.
I have lived in a small community all of my life.  People around me have impacted my life by teaching me about various things, such as farming and working on trucks.  Being in a small community all my life has taught me that everyone knows everyone, and your next door neighbor is like your extended family because of how close everyone is in a small community.
I take after my father, as I am told.  When I was 3 my father died, so I didn’t know him that well.  Ever since the past couple of years, my aunts, uncles, grandparents, everyone who knew my father and knows me say that I am an exact replica of my father in my personality and the way I think, talk, and do things.  Even though I am much like my mother, we agree on some things, and like the same things.  But I can tell I am just like my father by the way people describe him, I am outgoing, I love being around people, I am very talkative and I just like to have a good time, just like my father.
This is a psychological description of me because it discusses my behavior, and gives reasons for it, and discusses how I think about my process information, and my personality.
